The first guitar of the Gibson® 2009 Limited Run Series is the Holy Explorer. Offering a simplified electronics control layout, the Holy Explorer also has several cutouts in its body. A limited number of only 350 were made by Gibson USA®.
Electronics
The Holy Explorer has one volume knob and one pickup selector to control its two uncovered ceramic humbuckers. The Holy Explorer’s bridge pickup is a Gibson 500T humbucker, and a Gibson 496R humbucker for the neck position.
Body
The Holy Explorer is made of a mahogany body with several cutouts. The cutouts on the Holy Explorer give it a lighter weight than the typical Gibson Explorer, and some might say a slightly different tone from the way the body resonates.
Neck
The Holy Explorer comes with a rosewood neck built to the same scale as the original Gibson Explorers; 24¾ scale with 22 frets.
The Gibson Holy Explorer: uncovered humbucker pickups and no tone knob let this guitar stand out in overdriven and distorted guitar tones.
